Terms & Conditions

Please read these Terms & Conditions carefully before making a booking with Romsey Cars. By placing a booking you agree to be bound by these terms.

1.1

When placing your Booking request, you must order a suitable car size for the number of passengers and luggage. We cannot guarantee to carry excessive amounts of luggage. Please note that a child, no matter what age, counts as one passenger.

1.2

The Fare can be paid to the Driver by cash, credit/debit card. Card payments can also be facilitated ahead of the booking by the office or by BACS payment in advance for general bookings.

1.3

You shall be responsible for the behaviour of all the passengers in the Vehicle during the journey. You will be charged the applicable soiling fee of the local authority under which the Driver is licensed to cover cleaning costs in the unlikely event of the vehicle being soiled by any passenger.

1.4

Eating, drinking, vaping and/or smoking in the Vehicle are not permitted.

For pre-booked airport pick-ups, the Driver will be despatched two hours prior to the requested pick up time. Therefore, if you cancel the Booking within two hours of your arranged pick-up, we reserve the right to charge a cancellation fee.

1.6

For health and safety reasons Romsey Taxi are unable to provide any form of child seat. If you require a child seat for your journey it would be the child’s parent/carer’s responsibility to provide one and to fit the seat in the vehicle and to secure the child. If you are booking a return journey and have your own child seat, the driver who carries out your booking will store your child seat for the return. Under UK law, in a licensed taxi or private hire vehicle, if a child restraint is not available then the child may travel in the rear seat without a child restraint (using an adult seat belt if aged 3 or over, or without a seat belt if under 3).

If you need to cancel your Booking, please contact us as soon as possible. If you cancel a Booking after the Vehicle has been dispatched then a charge may be incurred; the charge will be based on the distance/time that the Driver has travelled/spent prior to the point of cancellation.

1.8

Romsey Taxi may be required to cancel a Booking prior to the date of pick-up due to circumstances beyond our control. Where this occurs, we will provide you as much prior notice as reasonably possible and provide a refund of any pre-paid amounts.

1.9

We may refuse to accept or may terminate any Booking with immediate effect if it places any Driver or Vehicle at risk of damage, violence or abuse by you or by any passenger in your party and we will ask all passengers to vacate the Vehicle as soon as it is safe to do so. No refunds will be given if the journey is terminated part way through the hire.

1.10

While we take every care, property is carried at the Customer’s own risk. We recommend that you check for all personal belongings before alighting.

1.11

The Driver reserves the right to charge a “Soiling Fee” if a passenger creates a mess that requires the vehicle to be taken out of service for cleaning (e.g., vomiting, food/drink spills, or staining upholstery). Charge: The standard soiling charge is up to £100.00 to cover the cost of valet cleaning and the Driver’s loss of earnings while the vehicle is off the road. This charge is payable immediately to the Driver. If a passenger refuses to pay, CCTV footage will be shared and reported to local police as it is criminal damage to property.

1.12

In accordance with the Equality Act 2010, we welcome Guide Dogs and other Assistance Dogs. Assistance dogs will be carried free of charge. They are allowed to travel in the vehicle with their owner and are exempt from the “Right to Refuse” clause above, unless the Driver holds a valid medical exemption certificate.

1.13

We take all reasonable measures to ensure that every driver and vehicle dispatched by us holds a valid Private Hire Driver’s Licence, Private Hire Vehicle Licence, DVLA Driving Licence, valid MOT, Road Tax, and appropriate insurance at the time of dispatch.

1.14

We share your name, pickup location, and destination with the allocated Driver to enable them to provide the service. A masked number or your direct contact number may be provided to the Driver to facilitate meeting at the pickup point. We do not sell your data to third parties.
